Audience
This one day session is designed for social workers, family support workers and managers working in children's social care.
Aim
This workshop aims to increase confidence in recognising and responding to intra-familial child sexual abuse (IFCSA), developing skills in working with families experiencing trauma from this type of abuse.
You will hear what children have told us and look at best practice in recovery work and when to do direct work. We will also consider the impact of this work on the practitioner and the team.

- Understand how attitudes and values shape outcomes for children in this area.
- Differentiate sibling abuse from sexual exploration.
- Explore family vulnerabilities and impact on all family members.
- Examine indicators of possible abuse.
- Contemplate the term 'disclosure'.
- Consider the possible barriers for children to seek help around sexual abuse.
Please Note: This event is a 6 hour online workshop delivered through Microsoft Teams.
