Audience
This is suitable for anyone who works directly with children and adults who may be at risk of domestic abuse. It explains nature and impact of coercive controlling behaviour on families and how professionals and organisations can work to support victims.
Aim
To raise awareness of coercive and controlling behaviour within domestic abuse.

Before you attend this course, you must download and complete the workbook which is accessed here. You must bring your finished workbook to the in-person session.
Learning Outcomes
In this module you will:
- Describe and critically analyse models of the use of power and control by abusers
- Describe the nature of coercive and controlling behaviours
- Describe how the intersectionality of disability, race, sexual orientation & other protected characteristics can increase the risk of coercion and control
- Outline key challenges of practice in this area, including the interplay between coercion and control, capacity and safeguarding adults
- Identify organisations that can support victims
Please Note: This event is a 6-hour face to face session and also requires approximately 2 hours of pre-work which must be completed before coming on the session.
