Developing an understanding of Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB)

Audience

This training is designed for all professionals who work with children, young people and families.

Aim

This training aims to support and equip professionals working in any setting or context to understand the continuum of behaviours and recognise the continuum of responses needed. The training provides professionals with opportunities to collaborate with others, reflect on current practice and to network and develop new skills.

Learning Outcomes

  • An introduction to HSB.
  • Delegates feel more confident in identifying and responding to HSB.
  • Appreciate the continuum of sexual behaviours displayed by children and young people, requiring a continuum of responses.
  • Explore the range of behaviours in the context of wider considerations, to identify appropriate responses.
  • Explore possible pathways to behaviour and factors of abuse.
  • Working within the young person’s network, including considerations when working with families/carers.

Pre-course

The training is for one day and we strongly recommend that before colleagues attend, they complete the 90 minutes online Brook Traffic Light Tool training available on Connect Learn for Government workers and Virtual College for other partner agencies.

Once you have access go to learning, click on ‘available learning’ and search for ‘brook’ where the training will appear.
