💻 Online Workshop: Responding to Families in Which Domestic Violence or Abuse is a Concern

Audience
This one day session is designed for social care practitioners working directly with children and families. It's designed for social care workers who have experience of practice in this area. It assumes a basis level of knowledge and experience and will not introduce work in this area.
Aim
This workshop will support participants in family help and child protection to apply whole family working models and approaches to practice when working with families where domestic abuse behaviours are used by a parent, carer and/or partner.
Participants will have the opportunity to examine the complexities of this area of practice and reflect on their own experiences of this work. Integrating intersectional and whole-family approaches, the workshop highlights how practice and service responses might be developed to offer more humane, effective, and socially transformative responses.
Learning Outcomes
- To examine the complexities of working with families where domestic abuse behaviours are used by a parent/carer/partner.

- To apply whole family working models and approaches to your practice.
- To identify and discuss actions to take in your practice.
Pre-Course learning
Please take the time to read the case file audit report in preparation for the training, to give you an insight into some of the key issues facing Children’s Social Care in responding to domestic abuse.
Reflective question:
What do you find most challenging when working with families where domestic abuse is a concern?
Reflect on where these challenges come from, e.g., from individuals in the family, from other professionals/services, from your service’s processes or systems.
Please Note: This event is a 6 hour online workshop delivered through Microsoft Teams.
